Directions

Stitches used:

Magic loop, single crochet (sc), slip stitch (ss)

Techniques:

·         Work with double strand yarn

The body of the slipper

Start with making a magic loop (alternatively, chain 3, slip stitch through the first stitch in order to make a circle). Sc in the magic loop 4 times. Use a marker for the last stitch.

Round 1: sc 2 times in each of the 4 stitches.

Round 2: repeat the sequence *sc 1 in the next stitch, sc 2 stitches in the next stitch*

Round 3: repeat the sequence *sc 1 in the next 2 stitches, sc 2 stitches in the next stitch*

Round 4: repeat the sequence *sc 1 in the next 3 stitches, sc 2 stitches in the next stitch*

Round 5: repeat the sequence *sc 1 in the next 4 stitches, sc 2 stitches in the next stitch*. You should end up with a round made of 24 stitches.

Round 6 to 14: work in round sc 1 in every stitch

Row 15: sc in 16 stitches. Turn.

Row 16: Chain 1 (does not count as a sc). Sc in 16 stitches. Turn.

Row 17: to 29. Repeat Row 16.

The heel

Row 30: sc in 10 stitches, crochet 2 together. Turn.

Row 31: Chain 1 (does not count as a sc). Sc in 5 stitches, crochet 2 together (in one stitch from Row 30 and in one from Row 29)

Row 32: Chain 1 (does not count as a sc). Sc in 5 stitches, crochet 2 together (in one stitch from Row 31 and in one from Row 29)

Continue working 5 sc and 2 together (in one stitch from the working row and in one from Row 29) until finishing all the stitches from Row 29.

Finishing touches: sc around the sides of the slipper’s instep, ss along the 8 stitches from Round 14. With a tapestry needle sew in the yarn ends.

Felting the slippers

Set the washing machine for 60oC, add some towels (or tennis balls, or other items that can help create agitation) with a basic laundry soap on a short wash program. After getting the slippers out, set them into shape with the help of some papers and let them dry. Enjoy!
