Crocheted IPhone 5 case

Materials needed:

For an IPhone 5

15 gr Elena wool

10 grams onion skins (mix of red and yellow onion)

Size 4 crochet hook

Enamel pan

Needle and thread

One button

 

Techniques: crochet in the round + working with 2 colors + flat crochet

Stitches used: single crochet (sc) + chain + slip stitch

 

Preparation

Dye 10 gr of wool with 10 grams onion skins. Use the same procedure as described on the website.

 

Directions

Using dyed wool:

Foundation chain: Chain 10.

Round 1: Chain 1 (counts as 1 sc). Single crochet in the third chain from the hook. Continue with sc in every chain till the end. (10 sc). In the last chain make 2 more sc. Turn your work clockwise (I crochet with the right hand) and continue with 10 sc along the other side of the foundation chain. Add 2 more sc in the last chain and close the circle with a slipstitch. Total number of stitches: 24.

Round 2 to 7: sc in every one of the 24 stitches.

Switch to un-dyed wool:

Round 8: sc in every one of the 24 stitches.

Switch to dyed wool:

Round 9: sc in every one of the 24 stitches.

Use both dyed and un-dyed wool:

Round 10 – 16: crochet following the diagram

Switch to dyed wool:

Round 17: sc in every one of the 24 stitches.

Switch to un-dyed wool:

Round 18: sc in every one of the 24 stitches.

Switch to dyed wool: 

Round 19-29: sc in every one of the 24 stitches.

 

The flap:

Worked flat with dyed wool.

Row 1: turn and slip stitch in the last 2 sc from round 29. Continue with 10 sc.

Row 2: turn and chain 1 (counts as a sc). Make a sc in the third stitch from the hook. Continue with 8 more sc.

Repeat Row 2 for 4 times.

Row 7: turn and chain 1 (counts as a sc). Make 2 sc then chain 7 and make 3 sc in the last 3 stitches.

Row 8: turn and chain 1 (counts as a sc). Make 2 sc then sc 7 times around the chain and make 3 sc in the last 3 stitches.

 

Finishing details:

Wash the IPhone case and block it. After it is dry, stitch the button in place. Enjoy your new IPhone case!
