Materials needed:

For one bag size 21x 22 cm and a 124 cm long shoulder strap

150 gr Elena wool, knit with 2 strands of yarn

Size 6 knitting needle (EU)

 

 

Directions

The bag

Knit two pieces of 21x22 cm. 

 

Techniques: flat knitting, cables 4 front (C4F)

How to knit cables 4 front: 

Slip the next 2 stitches onto a cable needle and hold it to front of work

Knit 2 stitches from the main needle and then knit the 2 stitches from the cable needle

 

Cast on 40 stitches

Row 1: knit each stitch (this will be the “wrong side”)

Row 2: purl 3, knit 4, purl 6, knit 4, purl 6, knit 4, purl 6, knit 4, purl 3 (this will be the “right side”)

Row 3: knit the knits, purl the purls 

Row 4: purl 3, C4F, purl 6, C4F, purl 6, C4F, purl 6, C4F, purl 3

 

*Repeat Row 3 for 5 times (next row should be on the “right” side)

Repeat Row 4*

 

Continue repeating the rows between ** 7 times. 

Knit one extra row: knit the knits, purl the purls and then cast off.

 

Wash the pieces and block them. Stitch the 2 pieces of the bag together leaving one side open. 

 

The shoulder strap: 

Cast 10 stitches

Row 1: knit each

Row 2: purl 1, knit 4, and purl 5

Row 3 to Row 5: knit the knits, purl the purls

Row 6: purl 1, C4F, and purl 5

 

*Repeat Row 3 for 5 times

Repeat Row 6*

 

Continue repeating the rows between ** till you get the desired length. Make sure that after the last row where you C4F you will knit 5 extra rows by knitting the knits and purl the purls. Bend the knitted piece in 2 on the long side and stitch the 2 edges together. Wash and block. Attach the shoulder strap to the bag.
