Junko
Okamoto

is a young knitting designer originating from Japan. As a child, she was fascinated by her grandmother, who was always knitting. She is inspired by vintage clothes and her style is unconventional. Her designs are far from being classical in shape or construction, but they are always inspired by the yarn qualities. Junko is also the first knitting designer who saw the potential in Moeke Yarns and created amazing pieces that make our yarn shine. You can find Junko’s designs on Ravelry. Make sure to follow her Instagram feed for news and more knitting inspiration!

LITTLE GARDEN

Delicate flower garlands knitted into the fabric, fringe and an oversize boxy look make this vest a mix of romantic and modern. A piece that will be remembered and will make you stand out in the crowd.

The pattern is written for one size. Gauge is very important for the overall look - a looser row gauge will result in a longer vest.

THE TWIGS

The rich warm colors of the background against which delicate twigs and leaves come to life are an invitation for autumn to come. Choose between natural off-while, brown and grey to create your own autumn landscape.

The pattern asks for a very tight gauge. Washing the yarn before knitting will help.

PLUM

Delicate and feminine, this is Plum. Lacey details that create a 3D texture, meandering cables and a touch of color that are skillfully brought together.

Gauge is very important for the end size of this pattern, especially because it has a wide neck line.

I am Alina and I am in love with knitwear. My obsession with knitting started almost 8 years ago and I don't remember a day when I wasn't knitting or planning a knitting project. I am fascinated by textures, natural fibers and all the diverse forms knitting can take. The love for this craft found its place on The Gift of Knitting, the blog I started in 2014, which became my true happy place that I love with all my heart and where I share my knitting and crochet experiments, interviews with crafters from all over the world and lots of yarn photography

HERITAGE

Heritage is light as a feather. It looks "architectural" in some way with its simple shape and the natural line of the yoke. Subtle details create texture and add an extra dimension to this sweater that has all the qualities to become a staple in every woman's handmade wardrobe.

Wheat is a statement of elegance. The clean lines, the perfect finishing details and the cables embellished sleeves as the "piece de resistance" make this sweater irresistible.

Thank you!

"Moeke Yarns" is s a nowadays Romanian company that produces wool yarns just like our grandmother would make them. She would use wool from sheep that graze on natural pastures. She would use only the best part of the fleece. She would not use harsh chemicals to wash or dye the wool. She would spin the wool by hand or at a local spinning workshop. And she would make this work with love and care for the animals and for the wool. This is what we also do.
